On my travels I’ve learnt that one in four start-ups fail in their first year. Worse still, only 20 per cent make it through to their sixth year. For those who do survive and prosper, even after all their hard work only a small proportion of medium sized businesses owners manage to sell. I find these statistics tragic and I passionately believe that it doesn't have to be like this.
My hands-on, practical, results-focused approach, my straight talking and my 'can do' attitude have made me a successful business builder.
So far, I have raised over £1billion with startup investments ranging from as little as £20,000 to as much as £900million.
I have nurtured and ultimately sold businesses with values from several million pounds to over hundreds of millions of pounds. I spend my time travelling around the world looking at new ways of living, new ways to do things.
Of course there are definitely some ‘do’s and don’ts’ and there is plenty you can do to avoid being on the wrong side of any statistic. I even wrote a book about starting, growing and selling businesses.
But at all times I feel entrepreneurial spirit is at the core of any success.
